It's the start of another season of the ever popular First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Murphy, North CarolinaIt’s Spring, finally! Cabin fever has long since set in. So, if a fun night out might be just the ticket for you, Friday, May 6th is the first, First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Murphy, North Carolina for the 2022 season. The Walk happens from 5 to 8 PM.
Various businesses host art, artists, performers, musicians, crafters and vendors either inside their doors, or outside on the sidewalk. Simply head for any businesses flying a yellow flag with a blue walking man on it, to participate. The Art Walk is free, but there are all sorts of shopping, interactive art presentations, live music, good food, and fun friendly people to help you thoroughly enjoy yourself. This Friday, May 6th the Murphy Art Center (MAC) will be holding a raffle for a Mini-Cabin to be given away at the MAC at 7:30 pm. Last tickets will be sold no later than 7:29 pm. Tickets go to benefit Children's art programs like the MACkey Mouse Art Club. Tickets prices are as follows: 1 ticket for $5, 5 tickets for $20, 13 tickets for $50, and 30 tickets for $100. Also in addition to local art in it many forms you will be treated to snacks at wine at the MAC. Some of the art on display in the MAC or on the Art Walk includes oil paintings, poured paintings, abstract art, etched wood art, turned wood, weaving, crocheting, glass art, stained glass, Jellies, jewelry of various kinds, clothing, baskets, felted animals, etc. The Art Walk was started about 9 years ago, by, and is still organized the Valley River Arts Guild Art Walk Committee which is located in the MAC.
